Licence renewal for January 1-March 31, 2026

The renewal deadline for psychologists for the truncated licensing period of January 1, 2026 to March 31, 2026 was December 31, 2025. Psychologists who did not complete the renewal process by the December 31 deadline had their licence cancelled automatically on January 1, 2026. Those who wish to return to practice must apply for reinstatement, including paying both the reinstatement fee (35% of the renewal fee) and the renewal fee:

Psychologists who missed the December 31 renewal deadline are not eligible to resume practice until their reinstatement is approved by the College.

Licence renewal for 2026/2027

The CHCPBC Bylaws were amended to align renewal cycles for licensing, certification, and health profession corporations to a deadline of March 31, across all nine professions regulated by the College, starting in 2026. The amendments were approved by the CHCPBC Board following public consultation.

Licence renewal for 2026/2027 will open February 18, 2026 in the Licensee Portal for psychology. March 31, 2026 is the renewal deadline.

To view the CHCPBC Fee Schedule, see Fees.

More information about licence renewal for 2026/2027 will be posted on the CHCPBC website.

Criminal Record Check

To minimize delays, the Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP) is encouraging criminal record check applicants to use the online submission process with their BC Services Card whenever possible.

Please also note:

  • Applications that require fingerprinting or adjudication (due to a relevant or specified offence) will be particularly affected by these disruptions
  • CRRP phone lines and emails are not currently being monitored; messages left during the strike will not receive a response.

Under the Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA), CHCPBC is required to ensure that each registrant completes a criminal records review conducted by the CRRP.  The College will contact registrants when their criminal records checks are due to expire and will prompt them to renew. Information about this requirement can be found at the provincial government Criminal Record Checks webpage.

For most registrants, this can be completed online. If you have received notice that you are due for a five-year re-check, review the walk-through guide.

The College does not accept shared results of a criminal record check previously completely with the Criminal Records Review Program for another organization.

Updating Registrant Information

Registrants may change their contact information, including address and phone number, and their employment information by logging into their account on the Alinity platform and submitting a Profile Update.

Business Names

The College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia does not regulate psychology corporations, as the government has not enacted a regulation for the profession of psychology in the governing legislation. However, the College does specify requirements for naming psychology companies when the company name contains a title restricted under the Psychologists Regulation.

The College recommends that registrants carefully review Code section 10.19 “Use of restricted title in company or business name” prior to submitting a request for approval of a company name. Registrants should also wait until they receive consent from the College to use the restricted title prior to preparing a website or other advertising materials that will include the company name.

In order to receive the College’s consent to use a reserved title in a business name, please complete and mail or fax the form below to the College:
